WHY I CHOSE MEDICINE-DORMUO ALOYSIUS NAMAALE

After receiving career and guidance counseling,I resorted to the idea of becoming a medical doctor. My dad died of Lumbar spondylosis 2years after I was born. From confirmed sources, he died due to the fact that there was no Doctor to perform a surgery on him. From the very day I was told about it,I swore to myself that I was gonna become a surgeon to prevent such death cases as my father's. So one can conclude without hesitation that my decision of choosing medicine as a career emanated from the death of my father. I already have prepared myself to be able to go through this herculean task of medical career. I read a lot of Pamphlets about the human body and how it works. I must say I love those pamphlets especially anatomy and physiology. Been a critical thinker and a person who wants to make difference and impact in peoples’ lives, I chose Doctor of medicine. Upper West Region Ranked the poorest in Ghana

Despite strides attained by government in halving poverty per the Millennium Development Goals, poverty levels in the country are still high especially in the three regions of the North. Statistics from the Second Ghana Poverty Mapping report show that Upper West Region is the poorest followed by the Upper East, Northern and the Volta region. The report indicates that these regions are faced with low educational levels, high unemployment and are below the poverty incidence of GH¢1,314.00 per annum. These came to light at the launch of the Ghana Poverty Mapping Report in Accra.
